It’s quite common for us to be asked by customers what the layers are and what their role is when it comes to Pouches and Flexible Packaging. We have put this information together for you to help answer some of those questions. You know, just in case you have been losing sleep over it and have to know right now.
Typical Pouches and Flexible Packaging film laminate consists of five layers:
Exterior Layer
Tie Layer
Barrier Layer
Tie Layer
Sealant Layer (Inside Layer)
There are several variables which can affect the exact materials used for your pouches. Chemical compatibility, barrier requirements, appearance, economy, regulatory requirements, expected life cycle, packaging equipment, and distribution method. We can suggest the ideal structure for your application.
We would like to thank the amazing and world famous folks at Glenroy, Inc. for the use of their excellent flexible packaging material layer descriptions, which we have used above.
